Kokoshnik

2016 – today
The kokoshnik as Russian cosmos is a theme that Diana Vouba has been developing in her works for several years now.
Rethinking the connection between the avant-garde and folk art, the artist creates new national brands that fit into modernity.
The traditional Russian image is solved by a laconic, verified composition of form and color in the spirit of the avant-garde. The kokoshnik, the main attribute of the Russian national costume, here looks like a part of a spaceship.
This series included paintings, street sculptures, porcelain figures and the painting of a typical concrete fence at a festival in Perm.
